Importance of Services for your Product Organisation

People in the Product Organisation have an allergic reaction to services(well most of the folks). I am guilty of being one them until recently. In some sense the whole concept of service is anti-product, you build product once so that you can sell it over and over again with zero marginal costs. Services on the other hand are short term fixes for individual customers, people who work on services are not technical enough, services business are lower margin, you hear all these things and people in product companies consider themselves cool enough to distance themselves from services and never admit to do anything that is even close to services.
